The iconic Lord's Cricket Ground is set to witness another landmark moment in cricket history as it prepares to host its first-ever Women's Test match. More than 142 years after staging its inaugural men's Test, the 'Home of Cricket' will welcome England Women and India Women for a historic four-day Test beginning on Friday, July 10.

The occasion marks another significant milestone for women's cricket, over five decades after Lord's hosted its first women's international fixture, where England defeated Australia by eight wickets in an ODI.

The historic encounter is also expected to attract one of the largest attendances in women's Test cricket.

According to a media release from Lord's, over 30,000 tickets have already been sold across the four days of the match.

"More than 30,000 tickets have already been snapped up across the four days of the historic Rothesay England v India Women's Test, making it one of the world's best-attended women's Test matches ever," Lord's said in a media release.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her excitement ahead of the landmark fixture, saying playing a Test at Lord's is something every cricketer dreams of.

"It's a very big moment for all of us. As a captain and as a player, I'm really looking forward to this opportunity. As kids, we always dream of playing Test cricket, and playing at Lord's is one of those dreams. All the girls are very excited,” Harmanpreet Kaur was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

However, India has been dealt a blow ahead of the one-off Test, with opening batter Pratika Rawal ruled out after sustaining a knee injury. Priya Punia has been named as her replacement in the squad.

Meanwhile, India Women's head coach Amol Muzumdar also reflected on the significance of the occasion and expressed his delight at being part of such a historic event.

"It just boggles my mind that it is just the first Test match here at Lord's. Having said that, I am really fortunate and would like to extend my best wishes to everyone involved in this.

It is a great occasion, and we are looking forward to it," said Muzumdar ahead of the historic contest.

The one-off Test promises to be a memorable occasion, with two of the leading teams in women's cricket set to script a new chapter at one of the sport's most iconic venues.
