India are in crisis in the T20I format after losing their second consecutive series, with England taking a 3-0 lead after sensational fifties by Phil Salt and Harry Brook in the fourth T20I. The host nation secured a 9-wicket win with 6.1 overs left in a 159-run chase.
After losing 0-2 to Ireland, India, the current T20 World Cup champions, have gone down in England.
The first game was called off due to rain.Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat at the County Ground in Bristol, and led the Men in Blue to 158 for 7 in 20 overs. India were 48 for 3 at one stage, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi registering his third failure in a row. The 15-year-old amassed 15 before Jofra Archer took his wicket.
Iyer scored an unbeaten 80 runs off 49 balls, laced with 5 sixes and 4 boundaries as India managed to cross the 150-run mark.
England pacers Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue picked up two wickets each.
Brook was unstoppable in the second innings, accumulating 79 not out off 35 deliveries, including 8 boundaries and 4 sixes.
Opening batter Phil Salt struck 42-ball 59 not out. He smashed 9 fours and a six. The pair joined hands when the host nation was 13/1 after Jos Buttler was dismissed in the third over.For India, Arshdeep Singh claimed one scalp. England won the second and third T20Is by 4 wickets and 125 runs. The visitors were bowled out for 76 runs in the second game, recording their heaviest defeat in terms of runs in the format. Vaibhav managed 14 and 13 in two matches before the third clash. The fifth and final match of the bilateral assignment is scheduled to be played on July 11.
