Shivam Dube has made a return to India's ODI squad after a two-year gap, being named as an injury replacement for the three-match series against England starting July 14. The all-rounder comes in for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who suffered a quadriceps injury during the Afghanistan series. Reddy had already been ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland and England, and his recovery will now also keep him out of the ODIs in the United Kingdom.
India are currently without their top two pace-bowling all-rounders, as Hardik Pandya is also nursing a quadriceps issue and missed the Afghanistan series.
This has opened the door for Dube, who last played ODIs in August 2024 against Sri Lanka. The 32-year-old has been a vital cog in India's T20I setup, playing key roles in both the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cup-winning campaigns.
Dube made his ODI debut against West Indies in 2019 and has since featured in four matches, scoring 43 runs at an average of 10.75 and taking one wicket.
Virat Kohli Fit!
In positive news, the BCCI has confirmed Virat Kohli is fully fit for the series. The 37-year-old, who missed the Afghanistan series, had been selected on "subject to fitness" but has now cleared his fitness test at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
