Phil Salt and Jos Buttler walked out to begin England's chase at Trent Bridge, hoping to build on their 2-0 series lead. But Arshdeep Singh had other plans. With the new ball in hand, the left-arm pacer delivered a dream start for India. Salt went after a delivery, got a thick outside edge, and Ishan Kishan made no mistake behind the stumps. Salt stood there in disbelief, gone for a duck in the very first over.

Harry Brook nudged the inswinger for a single to get off strike. Buttler then played and missed, as India kept things tight with another dot ball. And then came the big one. Buttler, the England captain, went for a firm flick but Varun Chakravarthy pulled off a sharp, well-judged catch that looked destined for the boundary. India had their second wicket.
