New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has confirmed casual playing contracts for four experienced white-ball players, Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, and Tim Seifert, for the 2026-27 season.

The agreements, which come into effect from August 1, will allow the quartet to continue balancing international commitments with franchise cricket while remaining available for national selection. The four players are expected to be available for New Zealand's home white-ball series against India in October and November, with an eye on earning spots in the squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Allen, Ferguson, and Seifert had also signed casual contracts last season, while Milne has now been added to the list for the upcoming year.

The casual contract model allows players to feature in franchise leagues around the world while remaining part of the Blackcaps setup. Since all four players are regarded as white-ball specialists, they are unlikely to be considered for New Zealand's Test assignments against India, Australia, and Sri Lanka later in the season.

Head of Selection Gavin Larsen welcomed the quartet's inclusion, highlighting their experience and the value they bring to the national side.

"We're delighted to add Finn, Lockie, Adam and Tim to our contracting programme for the next period. It goes without saying the talent and match-winning abilities all four players possess, and we've seen them do just that for the Blackcaps on many occasions. Their skills are in demand around the world and we see that as a positive as they're able to add to their experiences and bring those back to our environment,” the selection head Gavin Larsen was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.

Larsen also stressed the importance of the upcoming home series against India, which will feature a packed international schedule.

"There's no secret the in-bound India mega-tour is of critical importance to NZC on and off the field. The tour features ten white-ball games over 25 days, followed immediately by a block of six Tests - so we're well aware we'll need a deep squad, particularly in the pace-bowling department, to be at our best across the different series," he continued.

The four players are currently featuring in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 season and are not part of New Zealand's ODI squad for the ongoing series against the West Indies.

Ferguson and Allen have not played ODI cricket since 2023, while Milne last featured in the format in 2024. Seifert made a brief return to ODI cricket in 2025 after a six-year gap.

Expressing his excitement about the new arrangement, Seifert said the flexible contract allows him to continue playing franchise cricket while remaining committed to the Blackcaps.

"My passion and motivation to play for the Blackcaps and represent our country remains as strong as ever . The casual contract allows the flexibility to play in some of the different leagues around the world, while still remaining part of the Blackcaps programme. The upcoming India tour to New Zealand is going to an amazing occasion and I'm certainly keen to be involved. With two ICC white-ball World Cups also on the horizon there's plenty of exciting cricket to look forward to," said Seifert.

Notably, NZC had announced its men's central contracts last month, with fast bowler Blair Tickner making a return to the list after missing out previously.
