Shreyas Iyer's tenure as India's T20I captain got off to a disastrous start. His first assignment ended in a 34-run defeat to Ireland, and the hosts stunned India again in the second game, this time by just one run, to complete a historic 2-0 whitewash. Rain then washed out the opening T20I of India's five-match series against England, delaying Iyer's search for a maiden win. That wait stretched further when England chased down 191 with four wickets in hand, handing Iyer an embarrassing record; he became the first Indian captain to go winless in three completed matches.

In the second T20I, Ravi Bishnoi stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's much-anticipated debut, conceding 29 runs in a single over as England cruised to victory.
The 17th over was a nightmare; Bishnoi overstepped twice off the first two deliveries, and Jacob Bethell (76 off 46) made full use of the free hits, launching three monstrous sixes to take England home with an over left. The day started with buzz around a 15-year-old Indian sensation's debut but ended with 22-year-old Bethell's explosive counter-attack, giving England a 1-0 series lead.

India's chase defence unravelled early as Arshdeep Singh removed Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, but Harry Brook (39 off 15) then tore into the pacers, smashing 27 runs in one over—including three sixes and two fours.
Axar Patel (1/19 in 4 overs) finally dismissed Brook via Ishan Kishan's catch, but the damage was already done. Bethell and Tom Banton (39 off 32) stitched a 67-run partnership, comfortably handling India's spin attack. While Axar impressed, Bishnoi (0/60) and Varun Chakravarthy (1/37) struggled to match England's spinners, who bowled slower and used the conditions better.
