Former Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag shared a heartwarming message on the occasion of former captain and veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni's birthday on July 7.
Alluding to a folklore legend from Kerala, a beautiful state in India, surrounding a waterfall, which he compared to the iconic wicketkeeper-batter, Sehwag shared a heartfelt message to wish his former captain on the latter's 45th birthday, along with a carousel of images capturing moments between the two former India greats.
Check Sehwag's post on social media below"Deep within a forest in Palakkad, Kerala, lies a waterfall named Dhoni. You can't reach it directly; the path is difficult, and you need a guide. It takes a three-hour trek to finally catch a glimpse of it. And when you do see it? It appears serene on the surface, yet holds a fiery intensity within. The water looks smooth, but get closer, and you realize just how powerful it truly is. The Kerala Forest Department has a rule regarding it: "The water looks calm. But it isn't."
I wonder if that rule was meant for the waterfall or for 'No. 7'. And this place—this Dhoni in Kerala—has existed since long before Mahendra Singh Dhoni was even born. It is as if nature knew all along. That someone would come. That it would happen just like this. That one would find it—after a challenging journey—in a completely unexpected place. And once you’ve found it, it’s impossible to forget. Happy Birthday, @msdhoni. Stay blessed forever," Sehwag captioned his Instagram post on the legendary India cricketer's birthday.

Dhoni has established himself as one of the most storied cricketers and is the only captain in the world to win all three white-ball ICC trophies: the T20 World Cup 2007, the ODI World Cup 2011, and the Champions Trophy 2013.
He has played over 500 international games for India across formats and has scored over 16,000 runs. He made his debut in 2004 and played his last international match in the 2019 Cricket World Cup semifinal against New Zealand, where he scored a valiant 50 off 72 balls. He announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020.
He also has an equally impressive career in the IPL, leading the Chennai Super Kings in two stints, from 2008 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2023. He has been one of the most prolific batters in the league, scoring 5,439 runs in 278 games. He has led the team to five titles, the joint-most in the tournament's history. He still features for the team and is part of their squad but did not play a single game in the 2026 season due to a calf issue.
