Suryakumar Yadav has responded positively to being left out of the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, showing support for his teammates and captain Shreyas Iyer before the tour began.

Shreyas Iyer retained the captaincy by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the star batsman took over from Suryakumar early this year. Suryakumar’s last assignment was India’s win in the T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand, but he has had an indifferent time in his recent outings with the bat before being dropped for the Zimbabwe series.

Despite the disappointment of missing out, Suryakumar wished the team luck and especially complimented 15-year-old batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who recently became the youngest Indian to make his international debut after being part of the second T20I against England.

“A special word for Vaibhav, you are just at the beginning of a wonderful journey. Enjoy every bit of it and make us proud,” he tweeted on
The 34-year-old opener also took time to address a certain rumor that was doing the rounds on social media. Suryakumar clarified that he had nothing to do with a particular statement that was falsely attributed to him.

“I’ve also noticed a statement being circulated that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorized that statement. I urge you not to believe or spread misinformation. My commitment to Indian cricket, teammates, and the sport will always speak louder than any misleading words attributed to me,” he added.

Suryakumar’s remarks come as social media is flooded with rumors and false information about the batter. In his comments, he asked fans to rely only on the sources that he shares. Although his international career seems to be on hold for now, he showed support for Team India as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in their upcoming fixtures.
