India unveils Zimbabwe tour squad with major changes; Sanju Samson left out

India has made a surprising selection decision as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. Sanju Samson, Player of the Tournament in the victorious campaign, has been left out of the squad, with Punjab Kings’ Prabhsimran Singh making his debut appearance on the senior team.

Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Tournament in India’s successful T20 World Cup 2026, appeared in the first three matches before being replaced by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The youngster from Punjab Kings took on the responsibility and displayed a confident style of play, showcasing that he has the potential to make an immediate impact.

The selectors have decided to leave Samson out of the squad for the series against Zimbabwe.

Prabhsimran Singh was rewarded as India made multiple changes

Prabhsimran Singh was called up to the Indian team for the first time after a memorable IPL 2026. Singh was one of the Punjab Kings’ key players along with the experienced Ravichandran Ashwin, having scored 510 runs at a strike rate of 168.87. The wicketkeeper batsman has a potent strike rate, although he slowed down towards the end of the tournament.

India has named uncapped players Harsh Dubey, Yash Thakur, and Ashok Sharma in their latest squad. Rinku Singh and pacer Mayank Yadav are back in the team after being left out in previous matches.

In the latest update, the BCCI revealed that Shivam Dube has been called up to the ODI squad in place of the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy for the upcoming match against England.
