India has played 14 T20I matches in England, with their first assignment being the 2009 T20 World Cup, where they played five times. Since then, a host of players have played the shortest format on these shores to huge success, including the batters. 

At the time of writing, former captain Rohit Sharma has scored the most runs amongst Indian batters to play T20I cricket in England. In 12 innings, the right-handed batter has made 335 runs at an average of 33.50, whilst striking at 133.46. 

Rohit's first T20I appearance in England came against Bangladesh during the 2009 T20 World Cup at Trent Bridge, where he scored 36 runs.

His first half-century in the country came in the next game against Ireland at the same venue, hitting an unbeaten 52, helping India to an eight-wicket victory.

A few low scores followed in 2011 and 2018 before Rohit played his best innings on England soil. During the third T20I game against the hosts in Bristol, the opening batter scored an unbeaten 100 off just 56 deliveries to take the Men in Blue to a seven-wicket win after chasing down 199. To date, he is only one of three Indian batters to reach a triple-digit score in T20I in England, with the other two being KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. 

Rohit's last T20I innings in England came during India's white-ball tour in 2022. He scored just 11 runs during the third and final T20I of the series at the same venue where he played his first game, Trent Bridge. Despite the low score, the captain did guide India to a 2-1 series win even though they lost the match by 17 runs. 

Virat Kohli and Suryakumar, meanwhile, are second and third on the list of most runs by an Indian in England. Kohli has scored 192 runs from seven matches at a strike-rate of 133.33, whilst averaging 32. 

Suryakumar, on the other hand, has 177 runs from three matches, striking at more than 200. He scored an unbeaten 117 off 55 balls in the same game that happened to be Rohit's last T20I in England.
