A brilliant spell from Saurabh Netravalkar and Mitchell Owen has set up Washington Freedom’s 6-wicket victory against Los Angeles Knight Riders at Pomona.
With this defeat, the Los Angeles Knight Riders sank to the bottom of the MLC 2026 Points table.
Batting first, Colin Munro and Andre Fletcher opened the innings for LAKR while Sarurabh Netravalkar opened the bowling attack.
Dwarshuis bagged the wicket of Fletcher for 2 runs while Colin Munro and Matthew Tromp forged a 31-run partnership for the second wicket.
Owen bagged the wicket of Tromp for 21 runs, while Holland bagged the wicket of Hamilton for 5 runs.
Munro scored 25 runs before being dismissed by Colin Munro. However, Rovman Powell was the only scorer for the side, scoring 30 runs.
Saurabh Netravalkar ripped the middle order, dismissing Rovman Powell, Jason Holder and Andre Russell.
Meanwhile, Mitch Owen completed his three-wicket haul, sending back Sunil Narine and Shadley to dug out. LAKR lost all 10 wickets to score 108 runs in the 18th over. Saurabh Netravalkar and Mitch Owen was the leading wicket takers for Freedom, while Ian Holland and Ben Dwarshuis completed their spells with 2 wickets each.
Chasing the 109-run target, Mitch Owen and Steve Smith opened the innings while Sunil Narine opened the bowling attack.
Narine bagged the wickets of Owen and Andries Gous. Meanwhile, Steven Smith and Mark Chapman joined hands as Freedom scored 28 runs in the power play.
The duo forged a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. Chapman scored 34 runs before being dismissed by Andre Russell.
Meanwhile, Smith remained unbeaten to complete the chase. With Nikil Chaudhary’s dismissal for 15 runs, Steve Smith and Lahire Milantha chased the target at 18th over.
Saurabh Netravalkar was named the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post-match presentation, Netravalkar said, “Yeah, I’m really grateful to get that opportunity again, and I’m glad I could execute for the team today. Firstly, it’s a great vibe here. It’s lovely to be here and see the ground. The assessment was that there was some variable bounce and some swing on offer as well.”
“Absolutely. We’ve come a long way. There are four or five stadiums now, and season by season, MLC is growing. So it’s great. Thanks for the support in the country,” concluded Saurabh Netravalkar.
