Delhi: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Thursday announced the date and venue for the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka. The series between the two teams will be played in August. The Indian team will tour Sri Lanka for a Test series after 9 years. At the same time, both the teams will be seen playing Test together for the first time after the year 2022.

The first test will be held on 15th August

The date and venue of the series were already known in some media reports. Which has now been confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket. At this time BCCI has sent India A team on a tour of Sri Lanka. Where a two-match unofficial test series is being played between the two teams.

Whereas the senior Indian team will reach Sri Lanka in August. Where, the first test will be played between 15 to 19 August. This match will be held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle. The second and last match of the series will be played at the Sinhala Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo from 23rd August.

BCCI refuses Sri Lanka from playing T20

Some time back, it was reported that BCCI had rejected Sri Lanka’s request to play T20 International due to their busy schedule. The Lanka Premier League will end on 9th August. Because of which it was impossible to conduct a three-match test series.

In such a situation, the T20 series could take place only after the end of the Test on 27th August. But, India is likely to tour Bangladesh in September. Also in that month, Afghanistan will visit India. This is the reason why it was not possible to play T20 with Sri Lanka. However, there is no clear picture yet regarding the Bangladesh series. At the same time, Afghanistan series is confirmed.
