Chennai Super Kings could not even qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024. Vishwanathan said, “(What is Dhoni's future with the franchise) I don't know. This is a question that only MS can answer. Look, the question for us is that we have always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him and as you all know, he has taken his decisions at the appropriate time. But we will get the decision when he does. We are hopeful that he will be available for CSK next year. That is my view and expectation.

MS Dhoni's former teammates, including Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa. He has backed the wicketkeeper-batsman to return to action next year. Uthappa said Dhoni would be keen to make a strong comeback after the disappointment of the 2024 season. However, as a batsman, Dhoni came to bat in the last overs in IPL 2024 and played in a explosive manner. He has scored 161 runs in 14 matches played in IPL 2024 with the help of an excellent strike rate of 220.5.
