Delhi: New Zealand defeated England by 160 runs in the third test. With this victory, New Zealand won the series 2-1. There are sharp reactions in the cricket world after England’s crushing 2-1 defeat in the home Test series against New Zealand. After this poor performance, former England captain Michael Vaughan has given important advice to the England and Wales Cricket Board to make major changes in the entire team management.
In his column for ‘The Telegraph’, Vaughan said that after Ben Stokes’s retirement from international cricket, the entire leadership structure of England should be changed. The former captain believes that after continuous poor results, head coach Brendon McCullum and managing director of men’s cricket Rob Key should also step down from their posts.
Vaughan is unhappy with the performance of the England team. Expressing his anger, he stressed that despite having excellent talent in the team, the players are not being given opportunities.
Vaughn wrote, ‘Enough is enough. After Ben Stokes’ retirement and the team’s continued poor performance, now is the time for a complete cleanup. Coach Brendon McCullum and Director of Cricket Rob Key should also be shown the way out now.
Nothing can be said yet about whether Brendon McCullum and Rob Key will be removed from their posts or not. The first challenge before England is its next Test captain. After Stokes, Joe Root and Harry Brook are the biggest contenders to handle this responsibility. Root captained the second Test in the absence of Stokes. However, Root’s record as a Test captain is very shameful. Keeping the future in mind, ECB can declare Brook as the new Test captain.
