Chloe Tryon has a knack for delivering on the big occasions. In May 2010, on her T20I debut, she took a wicket with her first ball. In May 2025, she became the first woman to score a half-century and take a hat-trick in the same ODI, during a tri-series match in Sri Lanka.

In the decade-and-a-half between, Tryon has earned more than 200 international caps for South Africa and become a trusted all-round asset – an offspinner when a wicket is needed, a power-hitter when the equation gets tight, and a leader when the team looks to her. She served as vice-captain during a two-year period, including at two World Cups in 2020 and 2022. And when not a designated leader, she has mentored younger players, not just with South Africa but also during her stints in the WBBL, The Hundred, the CPL, and the WPL.

But Tryon has primarily inspired through her performances in the middle. Tricky pitches are something of a speciality. One of her finest innings was the unbeaten 57 against India on a slow pitch in East London during the 2020 tri-series final, which rescued South Africa from 47 for 4 to guide them to victory in a chase of 110.

After some time out of the side, Tryon returned to play a vital role during South Africa's run to the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, proving she still has plenty left to contribute.
