Indian seamer Mohammed Siraj on Tuesday was pulled out of the squads for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. According to BCCI, the bowler was replaced by Prasidh Krishna, who will be returning to the T20I fold for the first time since 2023.

Ex-Indian batter Aakash Chopra took to his YouTube channel to question the selectors for not picking Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the squad.

The 48-year-old said, “Bhuvneshwar not being selected will raise the question of whether it is the end of his international career? Prasidh has been picked to replace Siraj for workload management.” The 36-year-old pacer was the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2026 with 28 wickets and played a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title win.

Chopra felt that the seamer could have been pivotal during the tour of the UK, as the conditions would favour his style of bowling. “If the selectors aren’t picking him despite resting Siraj for the tour of the UK, where the ball does swing a lot, this was the right chance for a recall. Now that the call hasn’t come, maybe this is the end of the road for the player.”

Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer from Uttar Pradesh has put the onus on the selectors as far as his national recall is concerned.

Kumar just finished one wicket shy of South African pacer Kagiso Rabada in the race for the purple cap.

Speaking to the Indian Express, the seamer said: “Everyone is doing their job, the selectors and I are both doing our respective jobs; if they think I am still good enough to play, they will pick me.”

RCB’s star bowler also said, “It isn’t a small feat to play for the national side, and I consider myself lucky to have been given a chance to represent the national side. It is great to have played, however many chances were afforded to me and to have done well in my team with the national side.”
