The youngster Manav Suthar is set to make his first stint in County Cricket after signing a short-term deal with Warwickshire.

The left-arm spinner made an impressive test debut for India in the one-off test against Afghanistan, where he returned with figures of 7/62, including a six-wicket haul in the first innings.

The 23-year old had an impressive first-class record, having claimed 129 wickets in 29 matches before earning his test cap.

He will be available for the next two fixtures with Warwickshire against Yorkshire and Somerset.

The county stint is expected to provide valuable exposure ahead of India’s two-test tour of Sri Lanka in August.

Meanwhile, Jayant Yadav, Krunal Pandya and Mohammed Siraj are some of the other Indian players to have played for Warwickshire in the past.

Speaking on his deal with Warwickshire, Manav Suthar said, “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Warwickshire for the next two County Championship games. The team have started the season very well, so I’m hoping that I can play a part in helping them in their push for the title.”

Warwickshire are positioned in the 4th position of the Division One Points table, twenty-five points behind Nottinghamshire after six matches.

Warwickshire performance Director James Thomas said, “We are delighted to welcome Manav to the Bears at a really exciting time for the time.”

“We’ve played some good red-ball cricket already this season, and Manav will bring a new aspect to our bowling attack. It shows how highly he’s rated in India after his selection to their Test team last week, so it’s going to be great to have him around the group.”

Warwickshire will play their next County Championship game against Yorkshire at North Marine Road Ground from June 12 before taking on Somerset on June 19 at The Cooper Associates County GroundTaunton.
