Royal Challengers Bengaluru restricted Gujarat Titans to 155/8 in its 20 overs in the IPL 2026 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday night.
It was a top bowling effort from the defending champion, getting rid of openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan and striking at regular intervals and control the flow of runs throughout the first 20 overs. Rasikh Salam was the standout performer with his three wicket haul.
If Shubman Gill and co. manage to defend the target, it will be the fifth lowest total to be defended in an IPL final in the history of the tournament.
The lowest ever total defended in an IPL final currently is 129 in the 2017 final, by Mumbai Indians against Rising Pune Supergiant.
MI account for three of the top five lowest totals which have been defended in finals, having achieved the feat in 2013 (148 against CSK, third lowest) and in 2019 (149 against CSK, fourth lowest).
