Kolkata Knight Riders were the first franchise to qualify for the playoffs in the Indian Premier League 2024. They finished as the number one team on the points table, with Sunil Narine, Phil Salt, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell and Harshit Rana played key roles.
However, their mentor Gautam Gambhir has led from the dressing room. The veteran joined the two-time champions for the 17th season and scripted a memorable chapter.
Former India player Suresh Raina lauded the two-time World Cup winning player for his contribution in his team’s success. He said Gambhir never gives up and his never say die attitude has inspired the Knight Riders.
“We have played a lot of cricket with Gautam Gambhir and he doesn’t give up in any situation. With his arrival, we have seen the change in batting order and that has paid rich dividends in this season.
“He was actively involved in the auction process and then worked on the combinations for the new season. Gambhir’s mind has changed the fortunes of the franchise,” Suresh Raina on JioCinema.
KKR will take on SRI in Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
