IPL 2026: In Gujarat final, Shubman Gill made a series of records

On the basis of the stormy innings of captain Shubhman Gill (104 runs), Gujarat Titans have entered the finals by defeating Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2026. Now it will face RCB in the final. Shubhman Gill played an explosive inning of 104 runs in 53 balls. On the basis of this innings, Gill also made many such records in the history of IPL which no player before him could achieve.

This was the fifth century of Gill’s IPL career. Chasing a big target of 215 runs, he played an important role in his team’s victory by making a partnership of 167 runs for the first wicket with Sai Sudarshan. In this innings he hit 15 fours and 3 sixes. Shubman Gill has now become the first cricketer in the world to score more than one century in IPL playoff matches. Earlier, he had played an inning of 129 runs against Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier of IPL 2023.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar’s record broken

Gill completed his century in just 47 balls, which is the fastest century in IPL playoff history. In this case, he broke the record of RCB captain Rajat Patidar, who scored a century in 49 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 Eliminator. Gill also became the first captain to score a century in the IPL playoffs. This is also the record for the biggest innings scored by a captain in the playoff stage. Gujarat captain Shubman Gill has become the youngest batsman to score five centuries in IPL history. He did this at the age of only 26.
