Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill smashed his fifth IPL century against Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 match in Mullanpur on Friday night.

Gill brought up his hundred off 47 balls, which is the fastest century by a batter in the Playoffs, bettering his own record of 49 balls which he achieved in his knock of 129 against Mumbai Indians in the 2023 season.

Wriddhiman Saha (2014) and Rajat Patidar (2022) also had 49-ball hundreds in the playoffs.

The 26-year-old also now holds the record for the fastest hundred by a GT batter.

Gill, with his performance, also became the first player to score two centuries in the Playoffs, adding to his century from the 2023 season, incidentally in a Qualifier 2 match as well.

Gill was eventually dismissed for 104 runs off 53 balls by Jofra Archer, but not before putting his side in a prime position to overhaul the target and progress to the final.
