Mitchell Starc bowled a sensational spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He took three wickets to put the Pat Cummins-led team on the backfoot.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu heaped massive praise on the Australian speedster. Starc got rid of Travis Head with a peach of a delivery. The southpaw failed to open his account. Nitish Kumar Reddy (9) and Shahbaz Ahmed (0) were undone by the legendary bowler.
Abhishek Sharma (3) was dismissed by Vaibhav Arora. Meanwhile, Starc, who has faced flak for his ordinary bowling in most of the games, proved his stature in the playoff game.
Sidhu questioned the critics for highlighting Starc’s package. He was bought by Kolkata for Rs 24.75. The left-arm pacer became the most expensive player in the history of the tournament when the two-time champions added him to the team.
“Mitchell Starc is a big-match player and knows how to take wickets. He is a genuine wicker-taker. It is not right to compare his talent with money. We can’t deny the fact that Starc can win matches,” Navjot Singh Sidhu on Star Sports.
In 13 matches, he has taken 15 wickets at an average of 27.86.
