Gautam Gambhir is getting all the credit for the success of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024. The two-time champions have topped the points table in the 17th season. Former India players feel Gambhir has changed the fortunes of the franchise since coming on board as a mentor for the ongoing edition.
However, Mohammad Kaif refused to give all the credit to Gautam. According to him, Kolkata captain Shreyas Iyer also deserves praise for the way Knight Riders have performed.
“Shreyas Iyer hasn’t got enough credit. He has worked on the field. Gambhir is not the only one who has played a key role in his franchise’s success. I feel Iyer has done a brilliant job as KKR captain. He has been phenomenal this season and his decision making has worked in his team’s favour,” Mohammad Kaif said on Star Sports.a
After missing the last season due to an injury, Iyer returned to lead the franchise. Along with mentor Gambhir and head coach Chandarkant Pandit, Shreyas has formed a match-winning squad.
