game desk : Rajasthan Royals (RR) have made it to Qualifier-2 by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the eliminator match of IPL 2026. The hero of this victory was Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who single-handedly destroyed Hyderabad’s hopes by playing a stormy innings of 97 runs in just 29 balls. With this defeat, Sunrisers Hyderabad is out of the tournament.

Chris Gayle’s historical record destroyed
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was chosen Player of the Match, hit 5 fours and 12 skyscraper sixes in his innings.

With this brilliant performance, he has left behind West Indies legend Chris Gayle in terms of hitting the maximum number of 65 sixes in an IPL season. Apart from this, he also left behind Andre Russell and David Warner in other records of a season.

Eyes on the trophy, centuries will continue to be scored: Suryavanshi
After the match, Suryavanshi shared his batting strategy and said, “My focus was only on contributing to the team. Centuries will continue to be scored, but at this time our entire focus is on winning the IPL trophy.” He said that he focuses on his game, boundary size and positive intent rather than the opposition bowlers’ plans, which puts the bowlers under pressure.

Such was the thrill of the match
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Rajasthan Royals scored a huge score of 243 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to the half-centuries of Vaibhav Suryavanshi (97 runs) and Dhruv Jurel (50 runs in 21 balls).

In reply, the Hyderabad team, which came to chase the big target of 244 runs, got into trouble after losing 4 wickets for 57 runs in the power play itself.

Ishan Kishan tried to counter-attack by playing a quick inning of 33 runs in 11 balls, but the team fell apart in front of the lethal bowling of Joffra Archer (3/58) and Nandre Berger (2/26). In the middle order, Nitish Kumar Reddy (38 runs) and Salil Arora (35 runs) struggled by making a partnership of 56 runs for the sixth wicket, but Ravindra Jadeja (2/21) dismissed both of them and ended Hyderabad’s remaining hopes. The entire team was reduced to 196 runs in 19.2 overs.

Now Rajasthan Royals will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Qualifier-2 match on Friday.

The team that wins this match will face defending champion Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final.
