RCB all out Titans for 162 runs after scoring 254 runs for five wickets.
Hospice. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar praised the team’s aggressive batting and positive attitude after their huge 92-run win over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League qualifier.
Patidar established RCB’s dominance over the match by scoring unbeaten 93 runs in a fearless and explosive inning of 33 balls. Patidar, who became the ‘Player of the Match’, said that the intention with which the batsmen batted was the biggest reason for the team’s success. RCB bowled out Titans for 162 runs after scoring 254 runs for five wickets.
Patidar said after the match, it was a great match for us. The way the batsmen batted with dominance and showed aggressive intent from the beginning was very good for the team.
He said, there was no fixed strategy, but we were mentally prepared. Every batsman showed through his body language (positive attitude) that he was ready for the fight. Regarding his batting, he said, I try to understand the pitch by taking 8-10 balls in the beginning. After that my mind becomes completely clear. I am not too worried about my wicket and try to put pressure on the bowler.
Patidar also admitted that the pitch was not entirely easy to bat on. He said, it was not easy to move forward smoothly on the ball and take a shot because of the difference in bounce.
But we adapted ourselves to the situation.Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill blamed poor fielding for the defeat. He said that the team was in the match till the 12th-13th over, but dropped catches and weak fielding changed the course of the match.
Gill said, I don’t think the pitch surprised us. We were in a good position in the match, but our fielding was not up to par. Some easy catches were missed and ground fielding was also not good.
He said, “This is one of those matches which we would like to forget quickly and make a fresh start in Mohali.
There is constant work on fielding in team meetings and practice sessions, but today in the pressure moments we could not perform as per expectations.Regarding chasing the target, Gill said, “A good start is very important on such a ground. Here the ball comes to the bat quickly and the outfield is also fast. If the powerplay had gone well, this target could have been achieved.
