Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League 2024. Chasing 160 runs, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer hit fifties to take their team to the final.
After batting failure, Hyderabad were sloppy in the fielding as well. They dropped catches and even conceded extra runs. Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu slammed the 2016 champions, calling them cowards.
SRH were without proper spinners and paid a heavy price for their questionable team selection.
“SRH are repeating the mistakes of RCB. They don’t have proper spinners in the team. Bengaluru were playing without spinners and the moment they included Karn Sharma and Swapnil Singh in the playing XI,.the results start coming.
“If you don’t play spinners in the Indian Premier League, you are asking for trouble. Sunrisers Hyderabad are cowards as they think the spinners will go for runs.
“Pat Cummins, T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the only bowlers in the playing unit. Who will bowl the remaining eight overs? KKR spinners have taken 35 wickets in the season but Hyderabad don’t want to learn,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said on Star Sports.
