Only then will they get the ticket for the final.

So far, it has happened only once in IPL history that a single team has won all three – Eliminator, Qualifier-2 and the Final. This feat was done by Sunrisers Hyderabad team during IPL 2016. That season, Sunrisers Hyderabad had to play both Eliminator and Qualifier-2 and the team won both the matches and made it to the finals and then won the title by defeating RCB. The team had created history under the leadership of David Warner. RCB played the first qualifier that season and won that match and made it to the finals.

RCB has a chance to repeat history

RCB is also standing in the same position today in which Sunrisers Hyderabad team was once. Now if RCB also wants to win the IPL trophy for the first time, then they will have to win all three – Eliminator, Qualifier-2 and the final. If RCB accomplishes this feat, then it will become the second team after Sunrisers Hyderabad to win three consecutive matches in the playoffs. This means that RCB will have to win 9 consecutive matches and only then they can become IPL champions. Earlier, KKR had achieved this feat in 2014.

In the first 8 matches of IPL 2024, Bengaluru had won only 1 and lost 7 matches. It seemed certain for the team to be out of the playoffs, because if they had lost one more match, they would have been out of the race. However, after this, RCB won 6 consecutive matches and due to better net run rate, also secured a place in the playoffs. To enter the playoffs, RCB had to defeat CSK by 18 runs in their last league match and they achieved this feat.
