Delhi: In the coming days, ICC can make many major changes in all three formats. This includes new rules ranging from the head coach going on the field during the drinks break to the use of pink ball instead of red ball in test matches. These changes in the rules are currently under discussion and if they are approved in the ICC Board meeting to be held in Ahmedabad on May 30, then they can be implemented soon.

All these major changes were discussed in the online meeting of the ICC Chief Executive Committee on Thursday. ICC Cricket Committee head Sourav Ganguly was also present in this meeting.

Head coach will be able to come on the field during drinks break

One of the proposed changes is that now the head coach of the team can be allowed inside the field during the drinks break. This big rule has been made especially for the ODI format. According to the current ICC rules, currently only substitute players approach the players on the field during drinks.

However, nothing has been revealed regarding whether the coach will have to wear the team jersey before going on the field or not. In the ODI format, there are two drinks breaks during an innings.

Break time will be reduced in T20 matches

At the same time, ICC can also implement a rule to reduce the time of break during innings break in T20 matches. At present, there is a break of 20 minutes after the end of the innings, which can be reduced to 15 minutes. In T20 cricket, the head coach is already allowed to talk to the players to formulate strategies during the drinks break.

Pink ball will be used instead of red ball in test!

The biggest change can be seen in the test format. If the ICC approves the proposed changes, then the test may see the use of pink ball instead of red ball. It is understood that if the match is stopped due to bad weather and the match has to be restarted under flood lights, then the pink ball can be used with the consent of both the teams.

However, the complete details of how this rule will be implemented are not yet clear. It will be interesting to see how easy or difficult it will be to switch from red ball to pink ball in the middle of the match.

The most important thing in this rule is the mutual consent of both the teams. If ICC approves this rule, its complete details will be revealed later.
