Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of the remainder of the 19th season of the IPL. The franchise said the 21-year-old fractured a finger on his left hand during the KKR vs MI match on Wednesday.
Raghuvanshi, who was keeping wickets, collided with his teammate Varun Chakravarthy while trying to take a catch.
There was miscommunication between the two, and despite Varun getting both hands to it, the impact made the white cherry spill out.Angkrish left the field with the medical team and was seen with a brace in his hand after the contest. KKR revealed that he suffered a concussion and was replaced by Tejasvi Dahiya.
“Ankrish, unfortunately, ran a long way to be able to try and get that catch. And unfortunately, the collision that he had with Varun Chakravarthy meant that he ended up having some neck pain, a bit of dizziness and a bit of a headache within a couple of overs of that as well,” KKR assistant coach Shane Watson said after the match.
“So, unfortunately, he wasn’t able to finish off the game. And I know how desperate he was as well. He’s someone who is as tough a competitor as I’ve ever met. So we certainly missed him from a batting perspective,” he added.KKR have one more match left in the IPL 2026 on Sunday against the Delhi Capitals. KKR’s fate will depend on the outcome of the Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians match. If RR lose, Kolkata will have a chance to go through.
The Knight Riders will miss the top performer, who has amassed 422 runs in 12 innings at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 146.52.
