Sooryavanshi, the youngest player ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has quickly made a mark by hitting sixes off world-class bowlers, sometimes within the first ball of an over.

His record-breaking performances span U19 ODI cricket, the IPL, Twenty20 matches, and List A formats. His combination of explosive batting, keen game reading, and maturity is reminiscent of Tendulkar, who debuted internationally in 1989 at a young age.

When speaking on the sidelines of the Beyond Reach Premier League trials in Ghaziabad, More said, “When I first saw Sachin Tendulkar, who came in the Indian team for the first time and batted against a great bowler, I knew right away that he was something special. The same is with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi; he is special.

It is a good thing that we have such a player. He is going to bring great glory to the country. Let him play the way he does. He has been made and well prepared by god for this sport.”

In the current IPL season, Sooryavanshi leads Rajasthan Royals in runs and ranks third overall, scoring 579 runs in 13 innings at an average of 44.53 and a strike rate of 236.32, including one century and three fifties. He has hit 53 sixes, the most by an Indian in a single IPL edition.

In Twenty20 cricket, he has amassed 1,280 runs in 31 matches at an average of 42.66 and a strike rate of 217.68, with four centuries and four fifties, and a highest score of 144.

In List A cricket, he has scored 353 runs in eight innings, averaging 44.12 with a strike rate of 164.95, including one century and one. fifty, with a best score of 190.

At the U19 World Cup this year, Sooryavanshi was the second-highest run-scorer with 439 runs in seven matches at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49, featuring one century and three fifties, and a top score of 175. He set a new record by hitting 30 sixes in the tournament, surpassing Dewald Brevis’ 18 sixes in 2022, and holds the record for the most sixes in U19 World Cup history.

He is also India’s leading run-scorer in U19 ODIs, with 1,412 runs in 25 innings at an average of 56.48 and a strike rate exceeding 165, including four centuries and seven fifties, with a highest score of 175.

However, Sooryavanshi’s performance in red-ball cricket is less notable, with 207 runs in eight matches and 12 innings, averaging 17.25, and a single fifty.
