Sandeep Lamichhane 150 Wickets: The world record made by Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc in ODI has also been broken. Mitchell Starc had made the world record of taking the fastest 150 wickets in ODI in 2019, which was broken by Nepal's leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane after 7 years i.e. in 2026. Mitchell Starc had achieved the feat of taking 150 wickets by playing 77 matches in ODIs. But, Sandeep Lamichhane achieved the world record made by Starc by playing 4 less matches. Lamichhane took his 150th wicket in his 73rd ODI.
Sandeep Lamichhane got this big success in the Cricket World Cup League 2 match against Scotland. In this match, Nepal defeated Scotland by 6 wickets, in which Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets for 47 runs in 10 overs. He took the wickets of George Munshi, Brandon McMullen and Matthew Cross. Brandon McMullen became Sandeep Lamichhane's 150th victim in ODIs. With taking 3 wickets against Scotland, Lamichhane now has 151 wickets in 73 matches of his ODI career.
Sandeep Lamichhane, who has achieved the feat of taking the fastest 150 wickets in ODI, has also made the world record of taking the fastest 100 wickets in the 50 over format of cricket. There he broke the record made by Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan in 2015. Rashid had taken 100 wickets in the first 44 ODIs of his career. But, in 2018, Sandeep Lamichhane broke Rashid's record by playing 2 matches less than him. Sandeep Lamichhane took 100 wickets in the 42nd ODI of his career.
Only Sandeep Lamichhane is second in terms of taking the fastest 50 wickets in ODIs. The fastest bowler to take 50 wickets in ODI is Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka, who achieved this feat in only 19 matches. Whereas Sandeep Lamichhane took 50 wickets in his 22nd match in ODI.
