Australian batter Cooper Connolly wrote his name in the IPL history books on Sunday during the PBKS vs RCB game in Dharamsala. The left-handed batter, during his knock of 37 off 22 balls, hit three huge sixes. The third six of his innings reached 32 maximum hits for the season.

With this, the22-year-old went past Sanath Jayasuriya’s record of 31 sixes hit for the Mumbai Indians in 2008.

The former Sri Lankan skipper’s 31 sixes in 2008 were the most by a batter in his debut season in the cash-rich league. Vaibhav Sooryavanshiwith 24 sixes during the 2025 edition, is third in the list. 15-year-old batter currently heads the list for the most maximums hit in the 2026 season with 43, followed by Abhishek Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, who have hit 37 sixes each.

Connolly was one of the few BKS batters to put up some fight against a strong RCB bowling unit, who were defending 223 runs to win. The batter added 43 runs for the fourth wicket with Suryansh Shedge, which came off just 25 balls. That stand was broken when Romario Shepherd had the Aussie batter caught by Jacob Bethell in the eighth over.
