Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Paragonce again found himself in the spotlight following an off-field incident after his side’s defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

A video circulating online showed Parag at a hotel, where a young fan approached him for a photograph. However, the RR skipper appeared to be in a hurry and was seen moving the child aside without stopping for a picture.

Several other fans in the background were also heard requesting pictures, but Parag did not pause to interact with them.

On the field, Rajasthan Royals suffered a five-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 17, dealing a major blow to their playoff hopes.

RR got off to a flying start with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi attacking the bowlers early. However, Jaiswal fell in the second over, after which Dhruv Jurel joined Sooryavanshi at the crease. The youngster smashed 46 off 21 deliveries before Madhav Tiwari dismissed him.

Jurel and Parag then stitched together a 72-run partnership for the third wicket and looked set to take RR past the 200-run mark.

However, Mitchell Starc turned the game around with a sensational spell, claiming four wickets and restricting Rajasthan to 193/8. Lungi Ngidi also impressed with two wickets while conceding just 24 runs, and Axar Patel maintained control with an economical spell.

In reply, Delhi Capitals openers KL Rahul and Abishek Porel provided a blistering start, adding 105 runs for the opening wicket. Porel’s dismissal gave RR a brief opening, while Jofra Archer and Dasun Shanaka chipped in with wickets to keep the contest alive.

Despite a few late hiccups, Axar Patel and David Miller kept DC in control before Ashutosh Sharma finished the chase in style with an unbeaten cameo of 18 off just five deliveries. Delhi eventually sealed the win with five wickets and five balls remaining, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
