DC vs RR, IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals prevailed by five wickets over the Rajasthan Royals on May 17, Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to ensure themselves an outside chance of qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs. In the process, the Royals have slipped one spot in the points table as their playoff chances have significantly derailed.

Earlier on Sunday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru officially qualified for the playoffs by beating the Punjab Kings in Dharmshala. Additionally, they have also retained the top spot.

Having won the toss at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Axar Patel sent Riyan Parag and co. into bat. Although the inaugural IPL champions lost Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over of the innings, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel continued to take the Capitals to the cleaners.

Madhav Tiwari broke the partnership by dismissing Sooryavanshi for 46, while Mitchell Starc’s third over turned the innings on its head. The Aussie left-arm speedster landed a triple blow, dismissing Riyan Parag (51), Donovan Ferreira (0) and Ravi Singh (2) to peg back the Royals. Only Dasun Shanaka managed to get to double figures as Rajasthan limped to 193/8 in 20 overs.

The 105-run stand only in 10.1 overs between KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel set up the run-chase, with the latter doing the bulk of run-scoring before perishing for 51.

Sahil Parakh perished for 9, while the Royals also conjured the wicket of Rahul for 56 to make their way back into the contest. Tristan Stubbs (4) and David Miller (9) also departed in the next few overs to leave the Capitals in some pickle. But Axar Patel hung around, while impact sub Ashutosh Sharma dished out the required big hits to complete the run-chase.
