Mumbai Indians finished at the last of the IPL 2024 points table with just four wins from 14 games.

Despite a poor show by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, franchise owner Nita Ambani stood by the players.

Mumbai: Despite finishing last in the ongoing IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani motivated the players with words of wisdom and wished the T20 World Cup-bound players all the luck. In a video shared by the five-time champions after their final game against Lucknow Super Giants, Ambani was seen graciously addressing the players and stated she is not an owner but a huge Mumbai Indians fan. In total, Mumbai Indians won just four out of 14 games under new captain Hardik Pandya.

“I wish everyone here who is participating in the T20 World Cup and representing their countries, all the very best. To Rohit (Sharma), Hardik (Pandya), Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) and (Jasprit) Bumrah, I think all Indians are cheering for you. We wish you all the best,” Ambani said.

Mumbai Indians surprised the fraternity when they named Pandya as Rohit’s replacement as captain. The decision didn’t go well with the fans as Pandya was booed at every stadium where Mumbai Indians played including their home – Wankhede Stadium.

The constant booing had a negative impact on Pandya and the side as a whole. The only positive was Jasprit Bumrah’s heroics with the ball as the pacer finished with 20 wickets from 13 games including a five-wicket haul. However, Ambani promised the management will review the season.

“Disappointing season for all of us. Things didn’t go the way we wanted them to, but I’m still a huge Mumbai Indians fan. Not just an owner. I think to wear the Mumbai Indians jersey is a huge honor and a privilege, and to be associated with the Mumbai Indians, for me, is an honor and a privilege. I think we will go back, review, and think about it,” she added.

Speculations are rife that Rohit might not be with Mumbai Indians in the next season. However, with a mega auction to happen next season, it remains to be seen what decision the management takes.
