Why is Virat Kohli upset with 'Champak'? (Photo- PTI)
Virat Kohli: Royal Challengers Bangalore's veteran batsman Virat Kohli has openly expressed his displeasure over the increasing content and social media culture in IPL. While talking to Mayanti Langer in RCB Podcast, Virat said that it is very uncomfortable for the players to have cameras constantly following them during the practice sessions. Along with this, he also told an incident related to BCCI's robo-dog Champak, who was recording his personal moments.
Virat Kohli says that social media and fan engagement is important, but balance should be maintained in it.
He clearly said that players should be judged on their performance in the match and not on their preparation in the nets. During this podcast, Virat, while talking about an incident related to the Lucknow Super Giants match, said about the robo-dog Champak, 'I was talking to my friend Kane Williamson on some serious issue, when a robot dog Champak came and started waving at me. I clearly told the person controlling him to please take him from here and let me talk peacefully. Now I can't even talk to my friend normally without it becoming a social media moment.Thank god Virat Kohli called out that useless Champak robot. Absolute unnecessary drama.
That thing might be the most pointless piece of tech in the entire IPL, zero actual use, just pure nonsense. pic.twitter.com/80LxJED7Z7

Apart from this, Virat said about the practice session, 'When you go to practice, 6 cameras are following you. That is just not true. Players should have the freedom to work on their game in peace. If everything is just made an opportunity to film and debate, then the player will not be able to remain natural. Judge me on my performance in the match, not on my preparation in the nets.
Virat also told that he is playing less cricket now. His plan was always that when he was done with cricket, he should focus on other aspects of life.
He has also reduced his commercial work considerably and is now focusing more on the business side.
