Virat Kohli is blazing all guns in the Indian Premier League 2024. He is the only cricketer to score 700-plus runs in the ongoing season of the tournament. Kohli has given a befitting reply to critics, who declared him unfit for the shortest format of the game. There were speculations that he will not be considered for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but the veteran proved everyone wrong and made it to the 15-member squad.
Kohli’s performance played a key role in RCB’s six consecutive victories and qualification for the playoffs. He helped captain Faf du Plessis during the toughest phase and was spot on with his decisions during the must win contest against Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru.
Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden has made a bold prediction about Kohli. He said the star batter can break his own record in the playoffs this season. The right-handed batter accumulated 973 runs in 16 games at the IPL 2016.
“Virat can go past his tally of 2016. The love and commitment for the game drives him. He doesn’t believe in leaving things incomplete. You can use all good words for the great man. Virat likes to contribute with the bat and fielding,” Hayden said on Star Sports.
Kohli managed 47 runs off 29 balls while RCB skipper Du Plessis amassed 54 runs off 39 deliveries as RCB posted 218-5 in 20 overs. Kohli has scored 708 runs in 14 games this season. “He is committed and he gives it back to the crowd as well. There were moments when he signalled the CSK fans to remain quiet,” Hayden added. RCB will meet Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday..
