A batting blitz from Mitchell Marsh, along with Josh Inglis, has given a fiery start for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2026 game against Chennai Super Kings at Lucknow.
Marsh’s 21-ball fifty has put LSG in front in the 188-run chase. After being invited to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson opened the innings while Mohammed Shami opened the bowling attack.
Akash Singh bagged the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 13 runs. He got dismissed on a lengthy delivery where the batter goes for a pull shot, and the ball goes in the air towards mid on, where Pooran takes a comfortable catch.
Soon, Akash Singh bagged his second wicket dismissing Sanju Samson for 20 runs. He got dismissed on a back of length delivery, flicking it towards Deep where Mukul Choudhary picked the catch.
With Urvil Patel and Kartik Sharma at crease, Chennai Super Kings scored 37 runs in the powerplay.
With CSK aiming to forge an innings, Akash Singh bagged his third wicket dismissing Urvil Patel for 6 runs. He got dismissed after going for a pull and the ball goes in air where Mitchell Marsh took a safe catch at deep mid-wicket.
With Akash ripping up the top order, Chennai Super Kings lost three wickets for 52 runs. However, Kartik Sharma and Dewald Brevis are stabilising the innings with calm and steady knocks.
With Kartik Sharma smashing fifty, the duo forged 70-run partnership before the dismissal of Dewald Brevis for 25 runs. He got dismissed on a short delivery from Shami where he attempts for a pull shot and Akash Singh took the catch at short fine leg.
In the meantime, Kartik Sharma smashed 71 runs off 41 deliveries before Shahbaz Ahmed bagged his wicket. He got dismissed on a catch from Aiden Markram at long on.
With Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer at crease, Chennai Super Kings went on to post 187 runs in their 20 over innings.
Shivam Dube remained unbeaten with 32 runs while Prashant Veer contributed 13 runs. Akash Singh bagged three wickets while Mohammed Shami and Shahbaz Ahmed bagged one wicket each.
Chasing 188 runs, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis opened the innings while Mukesh Choudhary opened the bowling attack.
The duo forged a solid start dealing CSK bowlers with fours and sixes. Mitchell Marsh smashed a 21-ball fifty troubling the Super Kings. With a high expensive 5th and 6th over, Lucknow Super Giants scored 86 runs in the powerplay.
