Lucknow Super Giants batters finally played as a unit in the IPL 2026. Chasing 188, the Rishabh Pant-led team reached the target in 16.4 overs. CSK’s defeat has impacted their playoff chances in the 19th season. Mitchell Marsh was once again the star of the run chase, amassing 90 runs off just 38 balls, laced with 9 fours and 7 sixes.

His aggressive batting didn’t allow the Chennai bowlers to settle down, and by the time he was dismissed in the 12th over, the game was over for the five-time champions. He stitched a 135-run opening stand with Josh Inglis, who managed 36 runs off 32 deliveries, including 3 boundaries and 1 maximum.

Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten on 32 runs in 17 deliveries, with the help of 4 maximums and 1 boundary. Abdul Samad posted just 7 runs off 3 balls before Mukul Choudhary finished the task. He contributed 10-ball 13, packed with 2 fours.

Mukesh Choudhary and Spencer Johnson took one wicket each.

Earlier, Chennai had a terrible start with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (13), Sanju Samson (20), and Urvil Patel (6) returning to the dressing room in 7.2 overs. Akash Singh, who was added to the playing XI for the contest, dismissed all three batters. He gave away 26 runs from his four overs.

However, Kartik Sharma’s brilliant batting added respectability to the total. He faced just 42 balls in his knock of 71 runs and smashed 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Dewald Brevis struck two sixes to post 16-ball 25. All-rounder Shivam Dube’s 32 runs off 16 balls took the score to 187 for 5 in 20 overs. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Prashant Veer (13 off 10) remained unbeaten in the end. Shahbaz Ahmed and Mohammed Shami were expensive but added one scalp each to their bowling figures.

With 12 points from 12 matches, CSK are in 6th place and need to win their remaining games to stand a chance of playing in the playoffs. LSG are already eliminated, and they remained in 10th place despite a win.
