New Delhi: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League has now reached its most decisive turn. As teams try to cement their place in the race for the playoffs, two legendary teams—Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore—have made surprising changes to their squads. The entry of two new fast bowlers in place of injured players has made the equations of the tournament more interesting.

Khalil Ahmed out, Kuldeep Yadav becomes part of Chennai
Chennai Super Kings have suffered a major blow as their main fast bowler Khalil Ahmed has been ruled out of the entire season due to injury. To compensate him, MS Dhoni’s team has signed Kuldeep Yadav (fast bowler) at a base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Kuldeep’s track record: He has previously been a part of Rajasthan Royals and has played 3 matches in IPL. Seeing his speed and accurate line-length, CSK has expressed confidence in him.

Richard Gleeson’s entry in RCB, Nuwan Thushara out
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore has also taken a big step to strengthen its bowling. England’s experienced fast bowler Richard Gleeson has been included in the team in place of injured Nuwan Thushara.

Deal Price: Bengaluru have roped in Gleeson for a hefty sum of Rs 1.6 crore.

International Experience: Gleeson has taken 9 wickets in 6 T20 International matches for England. He has previously been a part of teams like Chennai and Mumbai Indians in IPL, due to which his experience can be useful in solving RCB’s death overs problem.

The road to playoffs became difficult
Two teams have already been eliminated from the season, while the remaining 8 teams are in a ‘do or die’ situation to reach the top-4. In such a situation, these changes made in the middle of the season will decide whether CSK and RCB will be able to overcome the shortcomings of their bowling and move towards the final or not.
