The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have brought in South African all-rounder Dian Forrester as a replacement for English all-rounder Jamie Overton, who returned home with a right thigh injury.

The franchise confirmed the news on Thursday, after announcing that Overton would return to the UK for further assessment and management.

“Dian Forrester joins the squad in place of Jamie Overton,” said a franchise on social media.

Jamie Overton had been one of the consistent and most impactful player for CSK. Having featured in 10 games, he picked 14 wickets at an average of 17.78 and an economy of 8.89 and scored 136 runs at a strike rate of 158.13, playing a key role with new ball and the lower middle order.

His departure is another setback for a side who have stretched by injuries. Earlier CSK had signed Macneil Noronha as a replacement for injury Ramakrishna Ghosh.

Chennai Super Kings have long list on injuries which includes, Nathan Ellis, Ayush Mhatre, Ramakrishna Ghosh and Khaleel Ahmed.

Dewald Brevis also missed few games in the start of the season due to injury. Meanwhile, Spence Johnson and MS Dhoni are yet to make their appearance due to their respective injuries.

Despite a poor start, Chennai Super Kings made a brilliant comeback having 6 wins out of 11 games and is a strong contention for finishing in the top four. CSK have shown resilience despite their set backs with a long list of injury concerns.

CSK are currently with 12 points and sits in the fifth position of the IPL 2026 points table. Chennai Super Kings will be needing atleast two wins out of three games to confirm their playoff qualification.

Chennai Super Kings will play their reverse fixture against Lucknow Super Giants on May 15 at Ekana Cricket Ground, Lucknow.
