Rohit Sharma was given the captaincy of that team and Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain. Many famous players including Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson have been named in the team.

It also includes the name of Shivam Dubey. Dubey has scored 396 runs in the IPL 2024 season. He also scored 3 half-centuries in this season.

Skipper Rohit Sharma had made it clear that Dubey has been selected on the basis that apart from power hitting, he can also bowl in the middle overs. But after being selected in Team India, Dubey's performance has been very bad.

Shivam Dubey's numbers are bad

Before the announcement of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, Shivam Dubey had scored 350 runs in 9 matches at an excellent average of 58.33 in IPL 2024. It was also a good thing that he was batting at a tremendous strike rate of 172. Dubey seemed to really strengthen India's middle order. But Dubey has failed in the last 5 matches in the league stage.

Shivam Dubey has scored only 46 runs in the last 5 matches, out of which his highest score was 21 against Gujarat Titans. His average in the last 5 matches has dropped from 58.3 to 36. Dubey was unable to shoulder the burden even as CSK desperately needed a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the match against RCB, Dubey played 15 balls, in which he managed to score only 7 runs.

The ICC has allowed teams participating in the T20 World Cup to make changes to their squads till May 25. In such a scenario, Shivam Dubey's poor performance could get him out of the team before the World Cup begins. If that happens, the biggest question will be which player will replace him.
