Legendary Indian batterSunil Gavaskarhas some words for Mumbai Indians’ management after having a disastrous Indian Premier League 2026. The former Mumbai player has suggested that the five-time champions should seriously consider giving chances to youngsters in their remaining games.

It has been a horrific season for the Mumbai-based franchise so far, having won just three of their 11 matches, while losing the remaining eight. As a result, they are already eliminated from the competition with three matches still to go.

Speaking ahead of MI’s next clash against Punjab Kings, Gavaskar had a rather interesting suggestion to MI management.

The two teams are set to clash in Match 58 of IPL 2026 at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala.

“I am a Mumbai Indians supporter. And now that they are out of contention of the playoffs, I would like to see them try some younger players. Who they leave out is for them and their management to decide. But they have some young players in their reserves, those who have not had an opportunity yet to prove their worth. Give them chances in the remaining three matches and see what they are like.

That way, you will be better placed for the next season," Sunil Gavaskar spoke on Star Sports ‘Cricket Live’.

The right-hander further highlighted that PBKSwill be under pressure after losing four matches in a row, after a terrific start to their season. After a recent slump, this game against MI will be a crucial one for IPL 2025 finalists.

"Punjab Kings would be desperate to get back to winning ways. After losing four games in a row, that is when you start to doubt yourself. Then you start looking around. You wonder whether you need to make changes in the playing XI or do something differently.

Punjab will want to win," he continued.

Kings currently are in fourth position in the points table, with 13 points to their name. They will have to win a few more matches to secure a place in the playoffs.
