Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has suffered another major setback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The team’s star all-rounder Jamie Overton may be out of the tournament due to injury. The franchise has informed that Overton has returned to England for further treatment and investigation due to an injury to his right thigh.

Jamie Overton was one of the most reliable foreign players of Chennai this season.

He made important contributions to the team with both ball and bat. Overton took 14 wickets in 10 matches, while batting usefully in the lower order, he also scored 136 runs. He worked many times to manage the team in difficult situations.

Chennai’s troubles increased

This season of Chennai Super Kings has been continuously affected by injury problems. Even before Jamie Overton, the team has lost many important players. The franchise recently included McNeil Noronha in the team in place of all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh after his injury.

Apart from this, Ayush Mhatre and Khalil Ahmed have also been out due to injury during the season. Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis could not play a single match in the entire season, while Spencer Johnson was also not available for a long time. Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also not been seen on the field yet this season. He is suffering from calf injury. On Wednesday, there were reports that Dhoni may leave for Lucknow with the team, due to which the expectations of the fans had increased.
