Delhi: The journey of defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has ended. The team had to face defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in its last group match. Meanwhile, a big update has come out regarding the retirement of former CSK captain and great finisher Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Actually, Dhoni is 42 years old and in some recent matches, he was seen limping due to his surgery. In such a situation, speculations are being made that Dhoni can now announce his retirement from IPL. However, they have not yet taken any official decision on this.

Due to the news of retirement, Dhoni has reached his home in Ranchi. According to media reports, Dhoni has not yet given any information to the franchise about his future. He has asked the team management to wait for a few months before taking a final decision. According to a report of Time of India, a source related to CSK has given this information.
He said, “Don't talk about Dhoni's retirement, but he has told the management that he will wait for a few months before taking a final decision.”
Dhoni wanted to play his last IPL match in Chennai
It is also believed that one of Dhoni's big dreams has remained unfulfilled. Thala wanted to play the last match of his IPL career at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. If the yellow jersey team had reached the final, he could have done so, but CSK was eliminated in the league stage itself and Dhoni's dream remained unfulfilled.
In such a situation, there is a possibility that MSD will give up the idea of retirement and will once again be seen playing in the jersey of Chennai Super Kings in the next IPL season.
If we talk about Dhoni's performance, he batted in 11 innings of 14 matches for CSK this season, in which he added 161 runs at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 220. Dhoni hit 14 fours and 13 sixes in IPL 2024.
