Team India captain Rohit Sharma recently opened up on Pakistan fans’ admiration for the Men in Blue. Earlier, Rohit expressed his interest in the India vs Pakistan Test series.
The veteran cricketer is ready to play against the arch-rivals and doesn’t want to mix politics with the sport. In his recent interview, Rohit spoke about the love of Pakistan supporters.
“I loved the messages from Pakistani fans. I know they love their cricket. When we are in UK, they come to us and respectfully tell us about their love for the Indian cricketers. You feel blessed when fans appreciate your performance,” Rohit Sharma said.
Rohit will lead India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the two powerhouses of cricket will clash in New York. The Men in Blue defeated the Babar Azam-led team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the last edition of the global tournament.
Rohit and Babar were not the captains before the apex boards decided to reappoint them. Sharma was away from T20 cricket for 14 months before agreeing to play in a T20I series against Afghanistan.
With Hardik Pandya injured, the BCCI decided to give the captain’s armband to Rohit.
On the other hand, Babar resigned from the post after the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, Shaheen Afridi, the new T20I captain, lost the series against New Zealand and his franchise failed in the Pakistan Super League 2024. The new PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi decided to recall Babar as captain in white-ball cricket.
India and Pakistan have won one T20 World Cup title each so far.
