Australia announced T20 World Cup squad: Australia has announced the team for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026. 15 players have got a place in the team, which will be commanded by Sophie Molineau. Sophie Molineau has taken over the reins of the team after the retirement of Alyssa Healy. The most surprising decision in the 15-member team is that the Australian selectors have excluded fast bowler Darcy Brown. 23 year old Darcy Brown was an experienced player of the team. But, Australia has excluded her and given place to a player who played only one match in the team for T20 World Cup 2026.

Why did Australia drop Darcy Brown?

Australian selector Shawn Fleger has cited conditions as the reason for Darcy Brown's exclusion. He said that Brown was unlucky that he had to be left out of the T20 World Cup team. The Australian selectors took the decision to drop Brown in view of all the right-arm fast bowlers in the team. The selectors dropped her and kept a left arm fast bowler Lucy Hamilton in the team.
