Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs in Ahmedabad on Tuesday and captured the top position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 points table. After this big victory, the statement of captain Shubman Gill is much discussed.

With its fifth consecutive win, Gujarat presented its strong claim this season. The team performed brilliantly in every department and completely eliminated Hyderabad from the competition.

Gujarat likes to play according to the conditions

After the match was over, Shubman Gill said that his team does not believe in playing in any one fixed style, but makes a strategy after understanding the situation. According to Gill, the biggest strength of the team is consistency and adopting a good attitude in the match.

He said that the focus of Gujarat Titans is not just on playing aggressive cricket, but the team adapts itself according to the situation and performs accordingly.

This statement of Gill is being linked to the batting thinking of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has said many times that his team wants to play cricket that completely dominates the opposition teams rather than consistent performances.

Hyderabad’s aggressive strategy proved costly

This season, Sunrisers Hyderabad has created its own identity on the basis of explosive batting. Batsmen like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan are known for playing big shots right from the start.

However, this aggressive style proved to be harmful for the team in Ahmedabad.

While chasing the target, Hyderabad’s batting completely disintegrated and the team was reduced to its lowest score in IPL history.

After the defeat, captain Pat Cummins said that questions cannot be raised on the batting order on the basis of just one match. He told that four of his top order batsmen have scored more than 400 runs and such bad days come sometimes in T20 cricket.

Sai Sudarshan and Washington Sundar took over the innings

Batting first, Gujarat Titans did not have a good start. Early wickets fell early on a difficult double-paced pitch, but Sai Sudarshan and Washington Sundar took control of the team with a brilliant partnership.

Sai Sudarshan scored a composed 61 runs in 44 balls, while Washington Sundar played a quick inning of 50 runs in 33 balls. With the help of both the batsmen, Gujarat made a competitive score of 168 runs for 7 wickets.

Hyderabad falls apart in front of Rabada and Holder

Sunrisers Hyderabad team, which came to chase the target of 169 runs, could not stand against the bowlers of Gujarat. The entire team was all out after scoring only 86 runs in 14.5 overs.

For Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets. At the same time, Jason Holder also broke the back of Hyderabad’s batting by sending three batsmen to the pavilion.
