T20 cricket is all the rage in India these days because the IPL 2026 season is at its peak. There is some thrill or drama to be seen in every match here. But thousands of miles away from India, red ball cricket action is going on in England and something amazing is happening here too. We are talking about the County Championship of England, in which something happened which not only surprised everyone but also made them laugh. The reason for this was an umpire, who with his gesture fooled the entire fielding team including the bowler.
This incident happened on the fourth day of the match played between Glamorgan and Somerset. The Glamorgan team was chasing the target of 284 runs in the second innings and 5 wickets of the team had fallen. At such a time, a partnership was being formed between Ryan Hadlee and Shaun Dickson, to break which the Somerset bowlers were trying their best but they were not getting success. At such a time, an appeal was made against Dickson on an excellent ball by fast bowler Craig Overton and this is where the drama happened.
Dickson missed playing Overton's ball and it hit his pad. All the Somerset players including Overton started appealing strongly for LBW. Meanwhile, umpire Paul Pollard raised his hand, seeing which all the Somerset players including Overton started preparing to celebrate. But then instead of showing the finger for out, the umpire started setting his cap and as soon as this happened, the faces of the players fell.
Umpire Paul Pollard has done Craig Overton dirty there!
Brought his arm up to doff his hat, all the @SomersetCCC lads thought he raised the finger!
Probably wasn't out, right decision, but some bluff from the umpire!!
Hadley did well to stand there shocked!#GlamvSom pic.twitter.com/uG76Pzohgx

Overton and his teammates were left wondering what happened. He could not believe his eyes because the umpire was seen raising his hand immediately after his appeal, which gave the impression that he was giving out. The video of this incident became very viral on social media. Even the commentators could not stop laughing during the match, while everyone who was watching this video on social media was also laughing.
Talking about the match, it was Glamorgan who ultimately won.
Hadlee and Dickson made a partnership of 114 runs for the sixth wicket, which took the team closer to victory. Both the batsmen also scored excellent half-centuries. Hadley ultimately remained unbeaten after scoring 50 runs and returned only after taking the team to the target. Glamorgan achieved this target by losing 8 wickets and registered a thrilling win by 2 wickets.
