A three-member inquiry committee has been constituted by Bangladesh to probe the reason behind the national cricket team’s withdrawal from the ICC men’s T20 World Cup in India.

According to an official government order dated May 10, former additional secretary Dr AKM Oli Ullah will head the panel, which also includes former Bangladesh captain and current chief selector Habibul Bashar and Supreme Court lawyer Faisal Dastagir.

The committee has been asked to submit its findings within 15 working days.

“We will try to start working as soon as possible. And hopefully we will submit our findings in 15 working days,” Oli Ullah said.

Bangladesh withdrew from the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, following the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) refusal to travel to India due to “security concerns” after the BCCI asked Kolkata Knight Riders to release pacer Mustafizur Rahman from his IPL contract.

BCB also asked the game’s governing body to shift Bangladesh’s share of matches to Sri Lanka, which ICC refused with Scotland eventually replacing it for the showpiece.

Bangladesh state minister for youth and sports Aminul Haque had earlier said the government would examine whether the withdrawal amounted to a diplomatic failure.

The T20 World Cup was held from February 7 to March 8.
